The Best of June | Katie Nichole

Hello everyone!

As you can see by the title, this is going to be my June favorites blog post.  I apologize that there hasn’t been too much variety lately but I’ve been brainstorming recently and I will have some fun things coming up for you guys.  Now on to the favorites!

Beauty:

  • Rimmel London Stay Matte – I have heard so many great things about this powder, and being that it’s summer I definitely needed something that would mattify my face and get rid of all the oil caused by heat and humidity.  The product itself is only about $5 which is a huge bargain for the amount you get and the quality.  When I wear this powder I really feel that I don’t have to worry about being oily throughout the day (really the only place I may need to reapply would be my forehead since that is my worst area).  Also, I feel like the powder leaves a nice smooth finish on the skin so it doesn’t even look like you have anything on, just your natural skin.  I will definitely be repurchasing this for years to come.

  • Rimmel London 9 in 1 BB Cream – As soon as summer came around I new I needed to pick myself up either a BB cream or tinted moisturizer, something that would still leave my skin looking flawless, but without all the thickness.  I decided to try BB cream first and see how I got on with that and I have to say, this stuff is even better than some of my foundations.  According to the packaging this BB cream primes, moisturizes, helps minimize pores, conceals, covers, smooths, mattifies, brightens, and helps protect.  I’m not just saying this, but all that is TRUE.  I was surprised at how much I like this BB cream and I am actually going as far to say that I think I have found my perfect ‘”foundation.”  Since it is also from Rimmel it is quite a bargain and I won’t need to feel to bad stocking up.  I have applied the BB cream with both a makeup sponge and a brush and both look beautiful.  I am really happy with this purchase and glad that I’ve finally found something I know I love and will stick with as a trusted product.

IMG_0472

  • Baby Lips as highlighter – I recently heard through the YouTubes that Baby Lips can be used as more than just a lip balm.  I don’t own a special highlighter of my own and instead of splurging on one at Ulta I decided to give the Baby Lips a go.  You can’t apply to much or it can become a little extreme, but I basically just tap it on above my cheekbone and on my brow bone and it truly does look beautiful.  It catches the light in a really nice way and brightens up the face amazingly.  I have also used a tinted Baby Lips as blush and it has the same effect, as well as adding a little color to the cheeks.  If you haven’t yet tried this beauty hack, I encourage you to do so immediately 🙂

Food:

  • My food item isn’t so much a food item as it is a beverage.  Last month, thanks to the Chicago Blackhawks, I have had the wonderful opportunity of drinking my fair share of Dunkin Donuts iced coffees.  They now have a Chip’s Ahoy syrup that tastes like heaven.  Now that I’m working everyday at an early hour coffee has become an essential for me.  Personally I like Dunkin coffee better than Starbucks, probably because there is more sugar in it 😉  I’m just thankful that most of the coffees I got last month were free, so I don’t have to feel so bad about how many I had!

TV Show:

  • The Bachelorette – If any of you guys are currently watching right now you will totally agree that this is the best year in this show’s history.  There is so much drama, so many plot twists, and I’m pretty sure more men went home not during a rose ceremony than during one.  Not to mention Kaitlyn is drop-dead gorgeous as well as super crazy weird, but in a humorous way.  There hasn’t been once during this whole season that I’ve been bored.  I don’t necessarily agree with her decisions, but there’s still the finale to come, so we’ll see what she does.  Only two men left!!

bachelorette-2015

Song:

  • Blood by Archis – This has become an extremely difficult thing for me to do since I have been discovering more music and enjoying so much of it.  I narrowed it down to just the one song this month, but as it’s the middle of July already I know I’m going to have a really hard time this month and may have to show you my top two, or even top three!  But this post is all about June so now I will share with you one of the most beautifully written songs I’ve ever heard.  I encourage you to listen, even if it doesn’t seem like it’s your style.   The intro is on the slower side but stick with it; you won’t be disappointed 🙂

Moment:

  • As most of you know due to my lack of posting, I have become super busy as of late.  We can blame that on the fact I have two jobs, one full time, the other part time.  For so long I was searching for a job, I thought I was never going to get any interviews, or even a call.  But within about a week of each other I started both jobs and I could not be happier.  I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard work and extremely exhausting, but I no longer have to stress about having no income and wondering how I was going to afford college. If you’ve been with me since the beginning you know that I suffered from acid reflux a while back.  I wrote a whole post on it about how I thought it might be caused by what I was eating.  I’ve brought coffee back into my diet (like a lot!) and nothing.  Not one day have I had AR.  I think what was actually causing it was all the stress I built up over needing a job and applying to jobs and being rejected and just the whole business in general.  I hated it!  And I’m very happy to have two jobs that I know will be with me until I graduate.

That wraps it up for this month.  I hope you enjoyed reading what I’ve been loving and have learned a little something.  I hope to write to you all very, very soon.  If you’d like, leave me a comment with ideas or what you would be interested in seeing from me and I’d be happy to give you my two cents on any topic.

Until next time, kisses,

Katie Nichole

The Best of May (YES MAY!) | Katie Nichole

Hello everyone!

I know it’s been a long time and you’re probably all wondering where I’ve been.  The fact is I’ve been working my booty off all summer and as much as I’d like to have a post up for you two, three times a week, I just don’t know how possible that is at this point in time.  I love this blog and I love how much it’s grown over the past few months.  I want to find a way to balance work, downtime, and writing.  However, I know as soon as I get into a rhythm school will start and my routine will once again be thrown off.  So I ask that you all stick with me.  I am going to do my best and I think at this time that’s all I can do.

Now on with the post at hand.  My favorite part of this blog is the monthly edition where I discuss everything I was loving.  I am aware May was ages ago, honestly it feels like years, but I didn’t see that it was right for me to skip a month.  The products I am going to list are still products I love, but i will be posting a separate June favorites.

Beauty:

  • Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser – I use this as substitute for a primer and I find it works wonders for my skin.  It helps my foundation glide over perfectly and makes my skin look flawless.  Definitely recommend.

babyskin

  • Cover Girl eyeshadow quad in Pure Romance (235) – I LOVE THIS!  It’s the perfect summer look and goes perfectly with my maybelline color tattoo I mentioned in last month’s blog post.  It’s pretty pigmented and easy to apply and while purple, looks very natural.

pure romance

  • LUSH Breath of Fresh Air toner water – this made an appearance in a favorites post already but I felt like I needed to mention it again.  It is probably the nicest thing I have ever put on my face, EVER.  It feels refreshing and cool and actually really seems to make my skin glow and helps clear up blemishes and discoloration.  I just ran out of my bottle and I am definitely going to buying it again, maybe even the giant bottle this time!

TV Show:

  • Grey’s Anatomy – this is usually the section in which I discuss the film that I really took a liking to during the month.  By now I’m sure some of you are aware of my love-hate relationship with movies, due to their length and never really knowing what genre to go for, and so on.  Also, since I’ve been getting busier and busier I don’t have much time to sit and watch an entire film, so TV shows work much better with my schedule.  I first started Grey’s in early May, after an explosion of spoilers leaked on twitter.  I figured I already knew the big things so I should watch from the beginning and learn the whole story.  Before the first season was over I was already obsessed.  It’s probably one of my favorite shows, behind Vampire Diaries but before The Walking Dead.  If you don’t know Grey’s (Meredith Grey) follows a group of hospital interns on their journey to become surgeons at Seattle Grace Hospital.  I’m currently mid third season and try to get an episode in whenever I can, but as I have said already many times, I am a busy bee.  If you haven’t seen the show yet you really need to get on board!

Greys-Anatomy-2

Music:

  • Daisy by Zedd – This was actually really hard for me because I’ve been updating my playlist more and more and currently like a good dozen songs equally, but when I contemplated which song I had listened to most and still wasn’t sick of I knew that Daisy was the one.  It’s catchy and upbeat; a great summer tune 🙂

Moments:

  • Finishing freshman year in college – Holla! I am soooooo happy that it’s summer.  Even though I’m working two jobs it doesn’t compare to the stress of needing to use your brain everyday to finish homework and take exams.  I had been awaiting the day I took my last exam since the end of spring break (way back in March!)  But I got through it and it was an experience of a lifetime.

That wraps it up for this month’s “Best Of.”  I hope you enjoyed and again, I apologize for the delay.  Stay tuned for my June favorites as well as a special new series featuring my recent purchase Skinny Bunny Tea.

Kisses,

Katie Nichole

A Little Post About Skincare | Katie Nichole

Hello beautiful people!

Today I thought I would answer a few questions about my skincare regimen.

wash-face-too-much-1

Questions:

  1. How many times do you wash your face daily? – I always wash my face when I wake up and before I go to bed.  If I workout during the day then I will wash my face again just as a refresher.
  2. What skin type do you have? – I currently have combination skin; very dry during the colder months, and oily during the warmer months.  My worst area for oil is my T-zone.
  3. What is your current facial wash? – I always use a variety of products so my skin doesn’t get used to one thing and start fighting it.  Right now I am using the Biore deep pore charcoal cleanser, Clean and Clear morning burst facial scrub, and Avon pore penetrating gel cleanser.
  4. Do you exfoliate? – Yes, I exfoliate every other day or every third day.
  5. What brand do you use? – As I mentioned I like to mix up my products so I have used just about every drugstore brand.  I have found that I am allergic to Neutrogena products and in my previous blog post I mentioned I was having issues with some of the Yes To products.  The brands I stick with most would definitely be Clean and Clear and Biore.
  6. What moisturizer do you use? – I am currently using the Avon moisturizer.
  7. Do you use eye cream? – I have sampled the Clinique moisture surge eye cream and fell in love with it, so once I save up enough money I will be getting my own personal pot 🙂
  8. Do you have acne prone skin? – Not too bad anymore, thank heavens! However, during that time of the month I will get a spot or two here and there, mostly around my T-zone.
  9. What face masks do you use? – I am super lazy when it comes to face masks, and currently I am only using one – the Freeman avocado and oatmeal clay mask.
  10. What is your favorite skin care product ever? – My all time favorite face wash is the Biore charcoal (I wrote a review on this product which you can check out here) and all-time favorite product ever is the Clinique Moisture Surge moisturizer! It is seriously heaven in a container 🙂

I hope you found this post to be enjoyable and maybe has even led one or two of you to try out one of the products I mentioned 🙂  Feel free to answer these questions on your own blogs – I would definitely love to read them.

Until next time, kisses,

REVIEW: Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel

Hello lovebugs!

Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for my absence.  The last few weeks have been crazy busy with finals and packing, not to mention the 14 hour drive back to my home town.  I am happy to say that I am now officially settled in to my home and ready to get back into the swing of things, starting with this blog.  Since I have hit 50 followers (hooray!) I will be uploading every Tuesday and Friday.  Be sure to leave a comment with a post you would be interested in seeing from me 🙂 Now on with the review.

IMG_0427

This is a product I had high hopes for but unfortunately my hopes were not enough to make this a great product.  I have always heard amazing things about the Yes To range and have only ever tried the yes to tomatoes cleanser.  I really enjoyed that and felt I should try some new products in the range.  I am new to under-eye creams and gels but after using this I have decided I am a cream gal 100%.

IMG_0438

The back of the packaging states that if used in the morning it will help wake up your eyes and when used before bed it will calm and soothe.  For some reason, and I’m guessing it is due to my sensitive skin, whenever I applied the gel in the morning my under-eyes would get super red and blotchy.  There was no puffiness and my eyes didn’t seem to itch at all but nonetheless, the product made my eyes look worse than before I applied it at all.  Not even concealer was help enough to cover the redness.  My mother also tried this and it had the same effect on her.  When used at night I didn’t really see, nor feel, any difference.

I’m sad to say it but this product is a massive fail in my opinion.  I give it .5 out of 5 stars (simply because I feel bad) and will not be repurchasing. Hope you all enjoyed!

Kisses,

Katie Nichole

The Best of April | Katie Nichole

 Hello lovebugs!

Welcome to another ‘best of’ post.  These are my absolute favorite to write because I love thinking over the past month and collecting all that I have enjoyed.  I hope you guys like these posts as much as I do, so without further ado, let’s get into it.

First, per usual, is the makeup/beauty category.  The product that stood out most of my whole collection has to be the Maybelline color tattoo in Inked in Pink (number 55).  This is a newer purchase that I bought specifically for spring/summer.  I’ve only had bronze and brown shadows for as long as I can remember, and I thought it was time to lighten up my look.  You can use this purely as an eye shadow, but I prefer to use it as a base and cover it with a champagne shimmer so that the pink still shines through, or I also have some lilac shadows that look beautiful with it.  I am definitely going to stock up on the other shades, most likely a bronze one, because I find that these tattoos help keep your shadow in place and prevent creasing and fallout.

IMG_0398

IMG_0400

IMG_0422

Next is baby oil.  I have always struggled with getting my makeup 100% washed off in the evenings, especially my mascara.  After using a cotton pad and some makeup remover (on my eyes only) I pour a few drops of baby oil in my fingers and gently rub on my lashes to get any remaining makeup off.  This oil is my savior! I don’t know about anyone else but I have a bad habit of pulling at my lashes to get off the mascara, which is sooooo bad for them.  Since I have been using baby oil I no longer have this problem, because there is no longer any mascara to pull.

IMG_0424

The last beauty related product is a nail polish.  It is the Essie Blossom Dandy, a vibrant sky blue color.  I was obsessed with this the first few weeks of April, wore it for Easter, and still had it on my nails for a good two and a half weeks after.  It does chip quite easy, but I don’t mind too much since the color is gorgeous.

IMG_0338

My favorite food of the month has to go to the Kalua Cocoa Coffee cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.  I talked about this a little in My Family Came to Visit post so I will just briefly say THIS IS THE BEST CHEESECAKE IN THE WORLD! I have never had a food where I literally said “mmmm” or “Oh my god that’s good,” every time I took a bite of it.  If you aren’t big on coffee you may not like this, but honestly there is enough chocolaty goodness to cover that up.  Pure deliciousness!

So I’m actually really excited to talk about my movie favorite of the past month.  I’m not a huge movie person, I prefer shows or YouTube videos (idk what it is, I just can’t seem to sit the whole two hours through without getting sidetracked or bored).  However, I have been trying to watch more movies so that I have one to recommend every month.  This month’s movie is Begin Again.  I. Love. This. Movie.  It might actually be in my top favorite movies ever now.  I don’t really know how to talk about the movie without giving anything away but if you like Keira Knightley, Adam Levine and music then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this movie.

begin-again

My music favorite goes in hand in hand with my movie favorite.  I have been loving the Begin Again soundtrack, but my all-time favorite song of the album has to be Lost Stars by Adam Levine.  I love it so much.  So here is the track so you can all listen and join in my obsession. (Ignore the cheering lol this is a clip from the movie.)

As far as memories go I think the fact that it is now spring earns a big chunk of love from me.  I wore shorts for the first time this year and was able to walk to class without shivering.  My parents and sister came out to visit for Easter, which I wrote a whole blog post about.  If you’re interested in reading that you can check it out here; there are lots of photos if that’s more your thing.

I also hit 50 followers on my blog, which to some may be pretty trivial but to me is huge!  Thank you to all that subscribe to me; I really appreciate it 🙂 Since this blog seems to be growing more I find it only fitting to post twice a week rather than once.  I will be posting Tuesdays and Fridays (as long as my schedule allows).

I hope you all enjoyed this month’s edition of ‘Best Of.” 🙂

The Liebster Award Part 2 | Katie Nichole

Hello everyone!

So if you guys have been following my blog for a while now you will know that I was lucky enough to be nominated for the Liebster award.  Well the time has come and I have been nominated AGAIN, this time by the lovely Alegra Titus from I’ll Take Two.

I’ll just briefly list the rules and then get into answering the questions 🙂

The rules go as followed:

  • Mention, thank and link the blog who nominated you
  • Answer the nominator’s 11 questions
  • Nominate 11 small bloggers who have less than 200 followers and link them below
  • Create 11 questions of your own for your nominated blogs to answer
  • Notify your nominees via social media

So here are the questions I was asked 🙂

1. What career did you want to pursue when you were a child? – When I was younger I so badly wanted to be a veterinarian.  I loved animals (still do) and wanted to spend my life surrounded by them.  Then I decided I’d rather just own a few pets rather than operate on them 24/7.

2. Do you speak any other languages other than English? – I took French a few years but can’t speak fluently.  That is a goal of mine for the future, however.

3. Coffee or tea? – Tea all the way!

4. Do you have any pets? – Yes, two dogs (Tank and Chewy) and two cats (Lily and Blossom).

5. What’s your favorite animal? – TIGER!

6. What is your blog about? – “Just your average girl, talking about average girl things.” I discuss beauty, fashion, college life, and everything in between.

7. If you could talk to any famous person living or dead who would it be? – I have to go with Taylor Swift on this because I just love her so, so much.

8. If you could travel back in time what would you do? – I don’t think I would want to go back in time and change anything because I believe very strongly that everything happens for a reason.  If I were to change something I feel I would not be the person that I am today.

9. Would you rather be in the city or country? – This is a really hard question for me because there are qualities of both that I love so much.  My goal is to end up living somewhere on the beach, and I’m not sure if that falls under the “country” category.  But if I HAD to choose I would rather live in the city.

10. Top 3 favorite movies? – Love and Other Disasters; Titanic; Pride and Prejudice

11. What’s one quote you’d like to share with your younger self? – “Remind yourself that you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.”

Thanks again Alegra for nominating me!  These are the 11 blogs that I am nominating and think that you all should go check out!

  2. What is your favorite song at the moment?
  3. Why did you start your blog?
  4. Do you eat breakfast?
  5. Morning person or night owl?
  6. Favorite makeup brand?
  7. Who is someone that you admire?
  8. What is your favorite television show?
  9. What is something you’ve never told anyone?
  10. If you had to eat the same thing for the rest of your life what would it be?
  11. What is a blog post you would like to see me do? (I’m taking all suggestions so can be anything!)

Spring & Summer Wishlist | Katie Nichole

Hello everyone!

I think it is safe to say that the sun is out for good now, which makes me oh so happy.  I have recently had my eye on a few things (well more than a few if I’m being honest) and thought it would be a good idea to make a list of the products or fashion items that I was lusting over this season.  I’ve narrowed it down to 10 items, and I will link the websites as best I can so if you are interested you can go ahead and purchase something for yourself.

First I will start with my fashion items.

  1. Kimonos – I have been OBSESSED with kimonos lately; that just seems to be all I want to buy.  I already have one in my collection but it’s pretty neutral.  I’d love to get some with more color and minus the tassels.  They’re nice to look at, but the washing of the kimono can be a real pain – I learned this the hard way.
  2. Elephant shirts & jewelry – I don’t know what it is about them, but ever since about two months ago I have been in love with elephants.  Not so much the animal, although they are great, but the look of elephants as a fashion design.  I would really like to find a cute bracelet or elephant charm for a necklace – I think it would be super cute for summer.  Also, I pretty much gravitate towards any shirt with an elephant on it, but have yet to buy one.  I’m looking for that perfect shirt.  There is a new website called Ivory Ella that is selling elephant designed shirts and part of the proceeds go to savetheelephants.org
  3. Plain white t-shirts – I can’t believe that I’ve gone 19 years of life without owning a simple white shirt. I really want to find, not just one, but a few this spring and summer because I feel like it’s a very classic look and white goes with everything.  They will be great to match with my kimonos 🙂

Skincare

  1. Clinique Moisture Surge – Omg I cannot stress how much I love this moisturizer.  This winter I have suffered from the driest skin ever, I think due to location change and the harsh water from college showers.  I had these awful patches on my cheeks and by my eyes, so I went into Sephora and asked for a sample because I had heard such good things about the product.  I swear to you, I only used this two days – day and night – before my patches had been completely healed.  Now I know going into summer my face won’t be as dry, but Moisture Surge is so light weight that it will be a great refresher to put on my skin in the mornings and then there is the possibility of sunburn…this will be amazing at healing those disasters in seconds.  As soon as my current moisturizer is gone I am rushing to the store to pick up a pot of this miracle cream.clinique-moisture-surge-extended-thirst-relief-moisturiser-gel-75ml-2-61-p
  2. Clinique eye cream – I have also recently been using an eye cream sample that I have really been loving.  Again it is super lightweight, which I find really nice, but I can also tell that it’s doing its job.  My eyes are more moisturized than they have ever been.  I have been going around, testing other eye creams, and have found that most are quite thick and almost sticky in a way.  This cream has been the best that I’ve found and I am definitely sticking to it.
  3. The Body Shop Vitamin E range – Since I have had such dry skin this year I’ve been doing my research in ways to cure dryness, and I found that really, Vitamin E is the way to go.  And not only for dry spots but just for healthy, glowing skin in general.  This would be a cheaper alternative to Clinique, and will probably work just as nicely.

Beauty

  1. The Showstopper Tarte Palette!! – I don’t even know where to begin with this palette.  I AM IN LOVE WITH IT!  I have been talking about it nonstop, have spent hours looking at pictures of it (well not hours but a long time), and every time I go into ULTA I have to take a peek at it.  It is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen and I love that you get so much with just one palette – a blush, bronzer, highlighter, and an assortment of shadows – what more could you need!  It is a little more pricy for a college student like me, which is why I set myself a goal.  If you follow my twitter you will know a little more about this – so far I am going strong!  Once I reach my goal, a 30 day time period, I will allow myself to splurge. tarte_showstopperpalette001
  2. Maybelline’s Blushed Nudes palette – Recently I have been really into lighter shades, just to switch it up a little from my usual bronzy color.  This palette has a beautiful range of pinky tones, as well as a few darker browns that I think would be a great addition to my collection.  blushed nudes
  3. Tinted Moisturizer & BB Cream – Yes, I know I went on and on about the Clinique moisturizer, but you can never have too many, right?  Also, with it getting hotter, it means that I won’t be wearing as much face makeup (foundation).  Having a tinted moisturizer would give me just a little color on days that I want to keep it mostly fresh faced.  Going hand in hand with tinted moisturizer comes the BB cream, a little higher in coverage but still pretty light weight.  I haven’t yet gone looking in the shops, so not quite sure what brand to go with, but I’m leaning towards L’Oreal because I have heard lots of good things about it.  If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments 🙂
  4. Highlighter – As I am trying to grow my makeup collection I think it is time to add a highligher.  I really love that glowy, radiant look of the skin and I think this would take it to a whole new level.  I know there are a lot of high end highlighers that are fabulous, but I am working on finding one that is more in my price range.  If (and when) I get the Tarte palette, there is already a highlighter in there, so it’s a win, win.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and are now inspired to go out and purchase a kimono or Tarte palette 🙂  Leave a comment with three things on your spring/summer wishlist; I would love to see what you guys are craving this season!

Kisses,

Katie Nichole

My Experience With Acid Reflux | Katie Nichole

Hello everyone!

As promised this is going to be my blog post dedicated fully to acid reflux, my experience with it, and how I have learned to manage it.  I know that some of you out there couldn’t be less interested in this topic so feel free to pass right by and check back in next Friday for a normal beauty related post from me 🙂

Firstly, in case you are sitting at your computer scratching your head and thinking “what is this girl on about?” I will define acid reflux in the simplest way I can.  When google searched it comes out as “a condition in which acidic gastric fluid is regurgitated into the esophagus, causing heartburn,” which honestly just sounds revolting.  Unfortunately this is true and I have only recently started to suffer from this horrible condition.

If any of you follow my twitter you will know that a few weeks back my acid reflux was really getting in the way of my daily life.  At first I wasn’t sure what was wrong with me; I thought maybe I had some weird flu or virus.  But then I realized “I don’t get sick,” which is completely accurate thank heavens! (I haven’t been ill since I was really young – minus the average cold of course).  I eventually just google searched my symptoms, disregarded anything that implied I had cancer, and found that what I was having could only be acid reflux.

Most often, whenever I would suffer from this it would be later at night, while laying in bed.  I’m not sure if the position I was in during this time had any effect, although I’m sure it did.  One time in particular, which was the defining moment that I realized something needed to change, was during one of my yoga sessions.  I couldn’t believe that something like acid reflux was going to be the reason I couldn’t do something I loved.

So I made it my mission to pick out which foods were the cause.  I eventually narrowed it down to two: pizza and coffee.  I haven’t had either in about two and a half weeks and I haven’t suffered from acid reflux once (well there was a day I had cheesecake with coffee in it – and of course my AR acted up).  Obviously pizza is a main food group for a college student so it has been hard cutting back, but honestly I feel so much better.  Not only am I not being attacked with heartburn at night, but my body is happier and more lively without all that excess grease inside it.

My parents have mentioned taking me to a doctor to make sure nothing else is going on, but I’m pretty sure that now that I’ve cut out the foods that were triggering my acid reflux that everything will be ay-okay.

I hope that this post helped some of you.  And even if it didn’t, I still hope that you enjoyed getting a little insight into my life – even if it was somewhat TMI.  If you have any questions that I didn’t address in the blog please ask them in the comments down below and I will do my best to answer them with as much accuracy as I can 🙂

Kisses,

25 Beauty Questions Tag | Katie Nichole

Hello everyone!

I have decided to do a little midweek post for you guys 🙂 I saw that Dorkchops, a beloved and fellow beauty blogger, had done this tag and I thought it looked so fun so I just had to do it!  So here goes 🙂

1. Do you apply your foundation with a brush, sponge, or fingers?
I apply my foundation with a sponge.  I’ve found that when I use a brush it has a smeary affect and just doesn’t turn out as well.  Could just be the brush I was using but for now I am happy with my sponge application.

2. Do you apply your eyeshadow from light to dark or dark to light?
This is a tricky question for me.  If I am going for a more neutral look I will apply dark to light, but if I want something that’s more bold I will apply light to dark.

3. Do you prime your eyes?
Never.  I haven’t ever felt it was a necessary step in my routine.

4. Concealer first, or after foundation?
After, after, after!

5. Go for manicures, or manicure yourself?
I paint my own nails, but occasionally will go get acrylics done when I’m tired of my polish chipping constantly.  And I really like the longer nail look.

6. Exfoliate lips, face or both?
Both.  I have the Elf lip exfoliant and I love it so, so much.  It smells like shea butter which is my fave!  I also exfoliate my face every other day with the Clean and Clear Morning Burst facial scrub.

7. On average, how long does it take you to do your makeup?
If I’m getting ready for class or to go to the store I can probably have my makeup done in about 10-15 minutes.  There are days, however, when I really take the time and enjoy the process of putting on makeup, so it could take me around 20-25 minutes.  Never more than that, though.

8. Do you wear makeup everyday and everywhere?
No, I’m very comfortable with a fresh face and don’t feel the need to wear makeup 24/7.  I also feel that it’s nice for my skin to have time to breath.  Pretty much all last year (my senior year of high school) I never wore makeup and I was still happy in my own skin.

9. What release are you most excited about? (Makeup)
The newest tarte showstopper palette! OMG I am dying to get my hands on it; it looks so gorgeous.

10. What’s your weakness? Shoes, purses, clothes, jewellery, eyeshadow, lipstick or other?
Anything Forever21 and makeup wise it would definitely be lip products.  My collection is growing way out of hand.

11. Do you whiten your teeth?
No, I’ve tried the 3D whitening strips before and hated the taste of it, so ever since then I just stick to brushing and flossing.

12. Wax eyebrows, or pluck?
I actually get mine sugared, which is a gentler version of waxing (and super organic), because I have such sensitive skin.  Plucking gives me anxiety!

13. What do you use to contour?
I’m not a contour gall sorry to say.  I like my bronzers though!

14. False lashes, or natural?
Natural!  I tried false lashes once for prom and I’m pretty sure they were a bit too large.  I wouldn’t mind getting my lashes tinted though; it would definitely save me time in the mornings.

15. Favourite makeup brand?
For drugstore I would have to say Maybelline, and high end would either be Urban Decay or Tarte.

16. Liquid eye-liner, pencil or gel?
Pencil.  I haven’t quite mastered the liquid style yet and gel just scares me 🙂

17. Lipstick, lipgloss or chapstick?
LIPSTICK!!

18. Pigments, pressed or cream eyeshadow?
Pressed, 100%

19. If you had to wear only one thing, excluding foundation; what would it be?
Probably mascara.  I don’t think a look is fully complete without it.

20. Favourite colour?
In general I like purple, but if we’re talking makeup I would say just natural browns and champagnes.

21. Favourite colour combination?
Again I really like my browns, so probably just a mix of dark and light browns 🙂

22. Natural or dramatic? (Eye Makeup)
Natural forever

23. Do you care more for quality or name brand?
Quality because I think there are products out there that are just as good for $10 as there would be for $50.

24. Do you enjoy using face masks? If so, which ones?
I love face masks, although I don’t use them as often as I probably should.  Right now I am using the Freeman Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask.

25. What is your current addiction? (Examples: lipsticks, eyeshadows, earrings etc.)
Kimonos, and anything with an elephant on it (shirt, bracelet, an elephant kimono would be perfect!)  And for makeup it’s eyeshadows; I think you can get so many looks with just the simplest of colors.

That concludes my beauty question tag.  I really hope you enjoyed it and I encourage you all to go ahead and do this yourselves.  I had lots of fun writing it and I’m sure you will too!  Please leave a comment with any tag you guys would like to see me do in the future and I will be back with another post very, very soon!

Kisses,

Katie Nichole 🙂
